News and Updates

Today I had to go and get my wisdom teeth pulled....all four of them. I was put under. I'd have it no other way. I am a complete wimp when it comes to anyone messing with my mouth. I went years without going to the dentist, and Mike came into my life and he convinced me that I needed to go. As it turned out, I had no cavities, except in my wisdom teeth, which they were all in but not all completely in. This was about 4 years ago and the dentist has been on me about getting them taken out. I promised him at my last cleaning that I would get it done, so today was the day. It was so weird. I remember going in there and getting an IV put in and he put something in the IV and then next thing I know I am in a different room, laying down under a blanket! I have no idea how I got there. I had to have walked though because the chair I was in was not on rollers. It is so weird.

Well my mouth was completely numb. Mike brought me home and he gave me my meds every three hours, and I slept. I finally was able to get up out of bed around 7, and hit the couch. I still talk funny and have chipmunk cheeks but at least I can talk..........all day I kept trying to talk to Mike and he was having trouble decifering what I was trying to say! I do seem to be improving well, of course the pain meds work great....haha. I hope to be able to play in the band at the ranch this Sunday for the fund raiser.

In other news, Autumn, the lady pregnant with twins, has Mike and my profile. She has said to Lindsey that she can see that if we were to adopt her twins that it would be such a blessing and dream come true for us. She also knows that she needs to give the babies a good chance in life by allowing them to be adopted. She however is still struggling making that decision final. PLEASE please please continue to pray for her and this decision. Mike and I want to adopt those babies so badly. We know that we are ready from this and have such a desire to have them and raise them to know God. We want to have a family. We do realize still that this might not be God's plan, and if so we will accept that. However, we can't help but to continue to pray that it is His will and he will bring those babies home to us. Autumn goes to the doctor next week and will be able to see what they are.........she thinks they are boys, but that is just a mother's intuition. Of course, I'd not mind that! .........but I will take two boys, two girls, or one of each, which would actually be the ideal situation.

So, just please pray for this situation and also pray for Lindsey. She is the friend of Autumn who I have contact with. She really wants to see the babies go to us as well, and is encouraging Autumn in that way. THANKS FOR MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS AND YOUR KIND WORDS AND CONCERNS OVER THE SITUATION. I hope to have new news soon, but there are still 5-6 months to go, so anything could happen.

GPS Sends Another Driver Onto Train Tracks of Doom
by Donald Melanson, posted Sep 30th 2008 at 1:43PM

We've seen some pretty extreme cases of excessive faith in GPS, but this may well be the first instance of the ill-advised practice nearly exactly repeating itself. As you may recall, earlier this year a Bedford Hills, New York man trusted his GPS so much that he apparently thought it was perfectly reasonable to follow the directions directly onto a set of train tracks. That didn't exactly work out so well, for his car or the oncoming train. Now, as The Journal News reports, another man followed his GPS onto the very same set of tracks last night and, while he did get out in time to make a surely embarrasing 911 call, that apparently wasn't enough to prevent a commuter train from slamming into the car a few minutes later, causing an hour and a half delay but, thankfully, no injuries. Maybe it's time for some signs?

Tagged, eh?

I have been tagged. Typically my first response would be to turn and chase the person who just tagged me, so that I could tag them back! That is the only kind of tag that I have ever played.

I am supposed to list 7 weird or ramdom things about myself.............I am not sure I am so creative as to do this, but I will try.

1. I am an adrenaline junky. I love to do things that get my heart rate up. I have done aerobatics several times in different types of airplanes, but my favorite was in an old Stearman (biplane) and loved being upside down. This is an open cockpit type plane, so I could see everything, which was awesome. I want very much to skydive, love to repell, have done zip lines over the tropical areas of Guatemala, and just anything that gives me an adrenaline rush. On the down side, this can be very dangerous if you are not a person who has morals and values............which I have, so I have to pick and choose my adrenaline rushes carefully!

2. Referring to the above.........I have wrecked my car on Paoli Pike, where I actually went over the side of the cliff, but I was not scared one bit! I guess that has to do with the high adrenaline personality. I was only upset that my car was so messed up afterwards!

3. I love showers, baths, and swimming, but I hate being wet. Try to figure that one out. I wish someone could invent a way that the second that you turned the water off in the shower that you were instantly dry.

4. I have a black belt in karate. That is not exactly weird, but kinda random.

5. I love weapons. I collect them. I have a room full of different kinds of swords, nunchucks, throwing stars, daggers, etc. And......I wish I had a place to actually use them.

6. I enjoy it when one of my cats decides to sleep on my head. There is nothing more relaxing than the sound of a cat's purr to put you to sleep.

7. I have two pet snakes..............weird or random? Maybe........... They have names too, Jonah and Cesear.

I don't think that I have anyone to tag, due to the fact that pretty much everyone in my list of bloggers has already been tagged by someone else.

HAPPENINGS

I have some updates on a few things that have been near and dear to my heart lately and that I have shared with others. The first has to do with the twin babies that Autumn is carrying. Just to recap, Autumn is friends with Lindsey, and Lindsey is the sister of a guy I work with. Anyway, Lindsey called today and said that Autumn has still not made any decisions. Apparenly there have been several people who live near her who have been offering to raise the babies, but according to Lindsey, none of them are a good fit. Lindsey is going to encourage Autumn to get to know Mike and myself before she makes any decision because she really thinks of all of the options, that we would be the best. I have made up a profile of information on Mike and myself, including many pictures. This Thursday, Lindsey is supposed to be in town, and we are planning to meet so that Lindsey can get to know us herself, as well as I can give her the profile to give to Autumn.

So.........pray pray pray!! I really feel like Mike and I would be great parents for these babies. We would provide for their every need, and even spoil them a bit I am sure. We also have very supportive family and friends who I am sure would help us along the way. Most importantly though, we would raise them in a home that knows and loves God, and teach them about Jesus so that when they are old enough to make their own decisions that they would decide for themselves to follow Christ.

Adopting would be one of the biggest blessings of my life if it were to happen. I also know that God has a plan, and it might not be for us to adopt these babies, and I have been praying that if that is the case, that God would help us to understand and accept that decision.

EMMAUS WALK

The other thing that has been going on is that the women's Emmaus Walk for this past weekend was cancelled due to the power outages. I just found out today that it has been rescheduled for October 30th til November 2nd. I did have some tentative plans for that weekend, due to the fact that it is Halloween weekend, however, I realize that the Walk is the more important event, so I will have to sacrifice my own plans, which is OK.

That's all for now.............

My Man

Mike went on his Emmaus Walk last weekend and he came home completely revitalized and desiring a closer more intimate walk with our Lord. He gave much over to God and is determined to let God keep it. It is amazing how much a person can change over a few days of quite time with God, fellowship with other believers, and encouragement from loved ones and other Jesus followers. I am so very proud my my favorite person in the whole wide world................that's you Mike!! I love you and love the new, deeper conversations that we have been enjoying. I look forward to our continued growth in God and with each other.

Anyone reading this who has not been on an Emmaus walk I definately encourage you to go on one. If you want more information about it, please just ask. I'd be more than happy to tell you, and also to sponsor you if you want to go on a Walk.

I was supposed to play drums in the band for the women's Emmaus Walk this weekend but due to recent weather, the electricity is out at the Woods where we were to stay, so the Walk has been postponed. I will give an update later on when we have new dates for it. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy a weekend of sleeping in and finally having a chance to get caught up on some things that I have still not gotten to since I have been home from Guatemala.

Emmaus Walk

Well Mike is on his Emmaus Walk. For anyone who has been on a walk, you know something about what he will experience this weekend. For those of you who have not been on a walk, I want to say that it is a good experience, and all Christians would benefit from it and enjoy the time to get away and focus on your relationship with Christ. Please pray for Mike that God will open up his heart receive whatever blessings He has in store for Mike this weekend. The Emmaus Walk is a very personal thing...........everyone gets something different from it, just depending on what they need and what God opens their mind and heart to. This event is always covered with tons of prayers, so the Holy Spirit is enabled to do the things that He needs to do for each person on the walk. So my prayer is that Mike is open to receive all that the Holy Spirit has to offer him for the next three days, and the he will come home closer to Christ and refreshed and renewed!
